    What’s Your Take On Rentaghostwriter?

    By admin | September 26, 2007

    There is another new ghostwriting jobs website that I have stumbled upon called Rentaghostwriter. It’s another free ghostwriting jobs website which usually means low paid jobs but I decided to join anyway and see. The website itself is well laid out and looks great. There is a lot of information for both ghostwriters and business owners looking to have work done. You can also subscribe to their newsletter and receive email alerts when new projects are posted. You also have the opportunity to sell your own articles through this site and they have a blog which a great deal of information too. So far so good.

    I joined late last week and have so far received approximately 5 email alerts for new ghostwriting jobs that have been posted. One of the jobs that caught my eye was for qualified writers needed. I clicked on the link to see what it was all about. I have pasted the description below so you can tell me what you think.

    We require a qualified and experienced writer to help us write 21 articles for a site who deals with children playing games we are working on.
    * English mother tongue
    * Expect payment from pay pal
    * Articles should be:
    * Original and high quality content
    * 400 word per article (minimum)

    The pay would be standard $1 per 400 words.
    Kindly bid with samples. Any bid without a sample will be ignored.
    Do not bid more than my given budget.
    I have to choose a writer today so kindly hurry and send me your best sample

    Standard $1 per 400 words? I really don’t know any ghostwriter that would charge a standard rate of $1 per 400 words do you? I mean come on, 400 words for $1 what is the world coming to. I was absolutely shocked when I read this.

    Let’s look at this in context from a writers point of view:

    400 words to be typed
    The client also states that these are to be keyword rich articles (more work involved here)
    Add your research time

    You are probably looking at about an hours work by the time you have researched the subject, typed up the article, and then placed all your keywords. All that for $1, it really is a joke isn’t it?

    Are there really people out there who will do this? I know I certainly won’t and I believe that it is people like this who are giving business owners the wrong idea when it comes to having content written.

    There was only one bid placed for this job and I am delighted to report that the person who placed the bid stated that they charge $15 per 400 word article. The project is still open and I am assuming that this person will not pick anyone for their project.

    I did think about contacting the admin of this website to complain about the standard of this job but then I thought what is the point, this website is free so what more can I expect. I do plan of keeping an eye on the projects that surface and if this site does improve I will let everyone know.

    Don’t forget if you have an opinion on these ridiculously low paying ghostwriting jobs leave your comments.

    Until next time,

    Keep writing.

      Amanda,

      First I just want to say, “WOW!”

      I first knew you from Viral Shock forum, and as I recall at that point of time, your webpage selling your ebook (first part I think) was like NOTHING…compared to your current webpage.

      It’s a wonder what a few month (5 months if I’m not mistaken) can bring about to a passionate person like you.

      Congrats…and keep it up!

I decided a redesign was in order and I have spent the last couple of months learning the tricks of the trade and microsoft frontpage. Hope you have enjoyed the content and don’t forget to check out the website again especially if you want to learn how to become a ghostwriter
