Here’s a chronological resume sample for a Senior Sales Account Executive who wants to stay in her career selling high-end cars. Although this job seeker is currently unemployed and has no college degree, her resume is very strong and puts her in the running for top jobs in her field.
Before you scroll down to this resume sample, take a moment to learn a little about how Anja (not her real name) handled a few challenges.
- Resume heading. Anja chose not to list a street address or PO Box in her heading. She was concerned about giving out that personal information and realized that most employers would not need it since they would contact her either by phone or email.
- Professional title at the top. Instead of writing a career objective statement, Anja typed her professional title. This works because she is already an established sales professional and wants to continue in that line of work.
- Employment gap. When Anja wrote this resume, she was not employed. In fact, she hadn’t been with a company for almost two years. She filled that gap with “Independent Sales Consultant.” Under that title are two bullet points that refer to a few private clients who asked her to negotiate prices for high-end cars they purchased. It wasn’t full-time work, but it was useful for filling the gap in her work history.
- No college degree. Anja went to college but didn’t complete her degree program. Under Education and Training she listed her college experience along with a few certifications.
